Letterpress Printing

LETTERPRESS PRINTING

Wood has been used when creating letterforms and illustrations dating back to prints from 868 CE. With the boost in technological advances and the rise of the digital era, letterpress printing became vastly overlooked and under utilized. Recently, letterpress printing has gained a resurgence in popularity and is being used more frequently today. Having an immense appreciation for a hands on and tactile approach within design, I took my digitized font "STEALTH" and made it into physical, printable wood type. By laser engraving and hand carving the wood, I turned each letter of my typeface into a type high, printable wood block.
